The Mysterious Man is character in the Power Master series.

The Mysterious Man, as he chooses to go by[1], is a enigmatic being with supernatural powers. He has so far shown the abilities to fly, cross dimensions, use elements, drain life, move quickly, super strength, levitation, teleportation, and hints at being able to travel through time[2], as well as having certain immunities. He is knowledgeable about the hero's actions and goals, though only gets involved if it is absolutely necessary. Otherwise, he keeps all irrelevant details to himself, this includes his true name, origin, and face, and tends to leave immediately as soon as his task is done in that area.

His appearances change between Power Master 1: A Strange Journey and Power Master: A Strange Journey MV. In the first, his armor is more colorful and he wears shorts. The remake shows him having black pants, a shoulder pad, and sword. In both appearances, he keeps a long red cape as well as what appear to be red bandages around his head, covering up everything except for his eyes.

The Mysterious Man has little influence on the main story in Power Master 1: A Strange Journey. The first time he is met is after the defeat of Hypnock on Bora Building, where he tells the player what the goal of the game is: to defeat Exitilus. The Mysterious Man himself is searching for how Exitilus returned from the Paradox Dimension.[3]

The next time the player meets him is at the end of the game, during the battle with Exitilus. When all hope seems lost, the Mysterious Man appears to take back the Gems Exitilus stole and gives them to the player, then leaves.

The Mysterious Man can be fought in the Area Unknown from the start of the game. He can also be fought in the Fairy Spring alongside Hunter and Exitilus using the same stats. When under the effects of Doppel's Dimension, he transforms into a female character given by the RPG Maker engine.

He was also the one to give Fora the note and lay out the signs leading the player to Bora.

The Mysterious Man returns in Power Master: A Strange Journey MV, with his beginning role being expanded a little. From the top of Bora Building, the player can see into the Land of Shadurn and see a structure in the forest that Hypnock is from[4]. After defeating Hypnock, a beam of light appears out of the structure, and the Mysterious Man drops down onto Bora Building. He states that Stephan looks younger, introduces himself, and then gives Stephan the Bora Gem. The Mysterious Man explains that Hypnock did take the Gem, but he had a need for it, so he took it from Hypnock. He states he is looking for how Exitous escaped, and then immediately disappears[2].

In other media

The Mysterious Man appears in Legends End: Book One: War, Part One: The Lives we Lost as a supporting character. He first appears in Chapter 4, giving Kat some words of advice about what to do with Eko. He is mentioned again before Kat enters the Mirror to the Underworld. He also appears in Part Two's Chapter 36, giving Eko directions on how to get to Castle Tralisiun. The Mysterious Man has no part in the rewrites of these stories and is not considered a part of Legends End's reality.

  1. "A common name I go by is the Mysterious Man. I suppose you could call me that as well." - The Mysterious Man, Power Master MV
  2. 2.0 2.1 "Let's see, given your height, you look to be in your teens, your location... so it's 2008... Tell me, Stephan: Have you just defeated Hypnock?"
"How do you know me? And yes, I have."
"Then I have no need for this anymore. This is yours."
"The Bora Gem? I thought Hypnock had it."
"He did, and then he didn't. I had need of it, but I've accomplished what I needed to do with it, so it is yours."
"What did you need it for?"
"No doubt you're aware that Exitous has returned. I was trying to investigate how. Any further details are irrelevant to your current quest." - The Mysterious Man and Stephan, Power Master MV
  3. "[...]somehow [Exitilus] got out and is once again after the Gems. I'm still investigating how..." - The Mysterious Man, Power Master 1: A Strange Journey
  4. "Do you see this land?"
"This is my home, the Land of Shadurn. Specifically, the structure in the forest over there is my place of residence." - Hypnock and Stephan, Power Master MV
