Template:Infobox character "Now let's go and show Exitilus what we can do!" - Stephan before the final fight in Power Master 1: A Strange Journey

Stephan Powers[1] (pronounced "Steh-fin") is a major character in the Power Master series. He is a reckless, but brave, character with a strong sense of justice and friendship.

Biography

Not much is known about Stephan's past. In the Power Master 1R Story, it states his parents died in an explosion[2] and was soon after taken to live with his grandfather, the Guardian of Fora. He lives with his grandfather for now and is a descendant of Kyle and Merlina. His birthday, November 11 is the month and day of Power Master 1: A Strange Journey's completion in the planning stages.

Power Master 1: A Strange Journey

In PM1, Stephan is fourteen years old. He sets out to save the world from Exitilus, following in his ancestors footsteps.

If the player chooses to start off as anyone other than Stephan, he will fill the role that was supposed to be taken by the selected player. This gives Stephan the most amount of roles (4) than anyone else (1 or 2).

Character Stats

Template:Infobox stats Stephan is a well-rounded character, but is unable to use any magic (aside from fused weapons). He does not truly excel in any parameter. Using Triple Attack, he can attack the most number of times out of any character and he can bring down his opponent's Attack and Defense using Weapon Break and Armor Break respectively.

Power Master 1: A Strange Journey MV

Stephan appears in the remake of A Strange Journey, again as a player character. While any one of the main heroes can share the same class stats, named "Legendary Descendant", Stephan has a 25% increase to the Defense stat. He is also capable of wielding lances and whips, the former of which is new to the series while the later was originally exclusive to Helen, in addition to the weapons and armor he used in the original game. Stephan also gains additional expressions. As one of the new mechanics in Power Master 1: A Strange Journey MV, Stephan can no longer learn skills by leveling up, though he now has access to Magic Books. In the demo of Power Master 1: A Strange Journey MV, the player starts as Stephan, though they can chose to swap with another character, and can chose to be Stephan again if they talk to him in front of Fora's house. It was also shown that Stephan is to have a personal sword, named Stephan's Blade,[3] though the data for which is absent in the demo.

Stephan is fought twice in Power Master 1: once as the Warrior of Bora if the player chooses to be Jennifer, and again as a part of Alex's team in the Area Unknown.

In order for Stephan to be fought as the Warrior, Jennifer needs to be the chosen player at the start of the game.

To fight Alex's team, the player must find and talk to Alex in 26 different locations. Afterward, Alex will ask the player if they want to fight his team.

* Stats before the slash signify the first battle in Bora, and stats after the slash signify the second battle in the Area Unknown.

Development

Stephan was created similar to the "generic heroes" seen in most anime and games.[4] Stephan has gone through several different designs, but he has mostly retained his look through each of them.

Trivia

  • The art of Stephan used in his PM1 wallpaper has two left hands.
  • At the end of Legends End Book One: War, Part One: The Lives we Lost, during the "About the Author" segment, Stephan's name is misspelled as "Stephen" in the first edition. This was fixed in later editions.
