Power Master: A Strange Journey MV (shortened to Power Master MV, A Strange Journey MV, or PMMV, originally titled Power Master 1: A Strange Journey MV) is an upcoming game in the Power Master series, officially announced on November 22nd, 2016. It is a remake of Power Master 1: A Strange Journey with updated graphics, new characters Matt and Alice, and new mechanics. It was originally being developed alongside Power Master 2: The Legend as well, however, the creator later stated he will be focusing more on Power Master: A Strange Journey MV instead.
On December 1st, 2017, a new trailer was uploaded showing game progress and the new title of "Power Master: A Strange Journey MV", omitting the "1". A release for the Nintendo eShops is in the works, and a release for Steam was also being made, but was deemed by the creator to be "no longer viable" due to financial issues, but could still happen later on. The full game will also support these formats.
The game starts by the player's grandfather, the Guardian of Fora, telling them the story of the Gems, how they have corrupted someone, and how the Guardians have formed. The player character starts to fall asleep in the middle of the story, and Fora wakes them up, then tells them to go collect the Fora Gem from Fora Temple so they can hold a ceremony for the one thousandth year after Exitilus's defeat.
After the player defeats Silver Knight, they learn Exitilus has returned and seeks to gather all twenty-six of the Gems once more.
The player has to find the Gems before Exitilus does, with every town in the Land of Moneo containing a Gem to collect. However, the order of the Gems they gather and how long they take can effect what events happen in towns, including not being able to collect a Gem at all. Most of the Gems are kept in dungeon-like locations, where the Guardians have placed the Gem with the intent to keep them safe, have been stolen by Exitilus's minions, and/or create a figure that the Gem uses to protect itself. Enemies can be found roaming certain areas, and coming into contact with one will start a battle with it. There are also several characters that can be recruited and several quests that can be cleared.
The controls for this game are the same as in the original, though the buttons can be mapped to different keys through an in-game menu. "Z" is used to activate objects and confirm commands, "X" is used to open up the menu and cancel commands, and the arrow keys are used to move. Additionally, the mouse's left and right buttons can be used to control the player character, with the left being used to click on a tile to move to and activate objects and the right being used to open up the menu and cancel commands.
The game uses the ready-made side-view battle system given by RPG Maker MV, though modified slightly to display a character window on the bottom rather than a character graphic to the right.
At the start of the match, the player will select what their characters will do from the options: "Attack", "Magic", "Special", "Defend", and "Items". "Attack" will make the selected player simply attack with their equipped weapon. If no weapon is equipped, they will punch the enemy dealing their standard Offense power to the enemy. "Magic" and "Special" has the player choose one of the character-specific Magic or Special attacks respectively to use. "Defend" will make the character take a defensive stance which will reduce the amount of damage they take. "Items" will let the player choose an item followed by who to use it on in the team. The player also has the option to run at the start of the turn, unless the player is in a boss or mini-boss battle.
Once everything has been selected, the battle will play out, alternating between player and enemy characters based on their Agility. Once a character reaches 0 Health Points (or "HP"), that character is removed from the battle, but can be brought back using certain skills or items. Once all characters on the enemy team are defended, the player is brought back to the field. If the player characters are all defeated, the main hero is brought to Limbo, where they have to avoid Sentries and Wandering Souls to return to the town they were last in. The player cannot enter a town they did not die in.

The final game will have nineteen main characters, fifteen more than the original game. Characters originally had different portraits based on what armor they wear, though the armor properties have since been adjusted after changing art style. There are also many side characters that can give the player a quest when spoken to.

Based on the total number of Cards, there will be 190 enemies in the game, 104 more than in the original game.

There are hundreds of items in the game, though most are Books the player can learn magic and skills from or the Cards.

Power Master: A Strange Journey MV expands on the weapon selection, totaling around 160. The game also introduces Lances and Wands.

Skills and magic
Unlike in the original game, characters learn skills and magic by reading specific Books or by equipping a certain item. There are also enemy-specific skills the player cannot use.

There are at least 88 quests in Power Master: A Strange Journey MV, up from the 13 in the previous game.
Differences from the original game
As an updated version of Power Master 1: A Strange Journey, Power Master: A Strange Journey MV improves on core mechanics, graphics, and has other changes.
- While the story remains the same, most of the dialogue has been completely rewritten.
- Enemies now appear on the field and move around, allowing the player to seek out which enemy they want to fight or to avoid them entirely.
- Items and Sers appear on the field as well, with Sers being picked up upon being touched and items being collected through the action button.
- Treasure Chambers appear.
- Skills are no longer learned through leveling up, instead being learned by finding and reading the respective book.
- Likewise, Magic Books are used to teach the character a spell and are no longer equippable.
- Additional characters, enemies, locations, quests, items, armor, and weapons are added.

A later post by Alexander Bodine showed several swords, a few axes, and a number of scripts that will be in the game, or are at least being tested for the game. Of the weapons, some returning ones are Iron Sword, Fire Sword, and Silver Axe, along with some new ones such as Platinum Sword, Attack Slayer, and Stephan's Blade. Of them, only Stephan's Blade's info is shown, which also confirmed a use of Counter Attacks.
Of the scripts, the slippery tiles found in areas like Lora Grotto return, as well as various expansions to the message, saving, and controller configuration systems are added. Most of the scripts provided are from the Yanfly Engine database.
Additional menus and options will also be added. Players can now configure the buttons on their keyboard and controllers, save, load, and delete files from the same menu, and view stat changes within Shops. Also revealed is the information of a standard sword, simply called Sword, showing it to have a Counter Attack as well. Additionally, enemies will now appear in and move around the fields, allowing players to easily find the enemies they want to fight or avoid them entirely.
Originally, the game would have utilized side-view battles, along with magic spells and lances, however the side-view battles was later dropped, though was eventually re-added using character windows instead.
A demo of the game was released on May 22nd, 2017 on the itch.io site and is available for download on Windows, Linux, and Mac computers, which can be downloaded for free with an optional donation, making the demo the first paid game in the series. On December 3, 2018, an update video was uploaded saying the game is progressing slowly, but that a new demo build will be uploaded alongside the start of the creator's Patreon in January. Anyone that pledges $10 or more will be able to download later demo builds whenever they become available.
On January 7th, 2019, the 0.2.0 demo of Power Master: A Strange Journey MV was posted. The player is now able to explore other towns, collect more items, and recruit more members. The Power Master-related Patreon was also started the same day. On March 20, 2019, the 0.3.0 demo was released, and the 0.3.0 demo was released for everyone to play on March 22, 2020 after no support for over a year and the game being reworked.
The game was originally started with the release of 2018 in mind, was pushed back to 2019, with the release date now being whenever it is completed. A Strange Journey MV has gone through three art directions and is currently undergoing a fourth.
